Dear all,
For this semester, we'll be doing two more projects closely
related to (1) your concerns of our society and (2) your interests in
yourself.
(1) The first one can be done in group. All members together
brainstorm for ideas about social issues. What are your concerns, worries,
furies about our world and society? What could we do to make a change? What do
you learn from reading related information when studying the issues of your
concerns?
For this project, you don't need to write any formal papers/reports
but only to blog to share and present your collected ideas with good logic and
organization.
(2) The second project is also called "personalized
project." This is an individual work that leads you to discover your own
strengths and weaknesses, and if and how this self-discovery may shed light on
the potential path of your future career and goal for your life. What do you
want to do and to be? Why do you think you can do it well, being an expert on
it? What characteristics do you have that are required by that profession? And
what will you do to direct yourself to step on that track?
For this project, you need to blog, to write a final report, and
give a presentation to show your discovery.
For both projects, you are free to read a variety of materials,
e.g. books, essays online, movies, speeches, etc.
For our class meetings, all of us will take turn to present our
reading, ideas, every week, non-stop. The presenter will need to lead the
discussion by preparing questions in advance so that group discussion can be
done accordingly. We did it a couple of time before our group projects, which went quite well. And I like to continue that in this semester.
More details will be given in class.
