Title of the Book: Left Neglected
Author: Lisa Genova
Page read: 114~ 322 (the end of the book)

I've finished the whole book; I think that the title of this book is very smart, just like to book itself. Readers can expect what will be the main focus in the book without a peek inside the book jacket.

Reading this book was a vicarious experience. It is about a confident overachiever, Sarah Nickerson. She is the vice president of a prominent consulting company, and she lives with her husband and three young kids. As a Harvard graduate student and elite in her field, Sarah suffers from an overbooked schedule, yet still insists on being successful despite all the stress that's being piled up inside her. One day, an unexpected car accident completely  eraser Sarah's ability away: her brain couldn't process anything on her left side - she even loses the capability to move her left arm and leg. The left neglected.

With the brain damaged, having what's called the Left Negelcted. Sarah could not walk in a straight line, keep her balance, or throw a ball accurately to someone who stands two meters away from her. Basically, when she tries to look at the left, it's all black. The left side of whatever she's looking at is like being swallowed into a balck hole, nothing else exist.

It is indeed good news for Sarah that she is lucky enough that she is able to recover from the injury. Think about it, what if yourself, or one of your closest one, have left neglected? In addition, it is permanently, instead of ephemerally? Even worse, what if you or your closest one lost half of the whole vision irrevocably?

That is what the main character, Sarah, must deal with - a frightening disorder called Left Neglect. This book was not as intensely depressing as I thought it would be. However, there are some parts of the novel where Sarah's recovery touched mt deeply. She goes from being upset of wasting even one mintue of the day, and the being forced to ask for others' help with something as simple as daily tasks such as changing her clothes and eating the food.

I not only learned about Left Neglect by reading this book, but the effect is has on people. I'd like to recommend this novel to people who love to read, and want to explore other's life journey.
