After listening to my classmates' reports about their self-reading, there are three presentations I really like.
Jenny Chang is the first speaker, she introduced three books to us. I liked the way she presented because she seemed to be well-prepared. She was confident and gave us detailed information of her books. Honestly, I was amazed by her reading pace. I have only read two books since the beginning of this semester while she has read three books. She also mentioned she has built a habit of reading before going to bed. I think this is what I need to do. Though I like reading, I would definitely abandon it if I have other important things to do. I have to admit that reading is not on my priority list.
Kyle's presentation also makes me impressive. Kyle introduced the book Game of Throne. He gave us the background of this book and most importantly, he made the connection with himself and characters in the novel. He said that one of the characters, Jon Snow, has the same personality as him. Both of them have poker face and pride sometimes. However, they both have soft hearts. They are tired of disguising themselves with a mask of fake expressions. That's why they wear poker faces. I think it's not an easy job to make a link to oneself with the characters in whether books or movies. If you want to this, you must steep yourself in the current situation and pretend you were in the plot.
SYL: immersing into the plot isn't as hard when you choose the right book (e.g. you like it, always drawn by it, and want to know what's next). On the other hand, we depart from the story when it is irrelevant and uninteresting. Imagination helps make connection for us when reading. And imagination is built through lots of reading.)
Next person is Jerry. He's novel is called The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy. The plot of this book is complicated. However, I think Jerry did a good job explaining it. His power point slides are clear and simple. He was able to explain complex concepts with easy chart and words. He must love this book so much that he can memorize all the plots easily. His reflection is very special as well. He thought the book is nonsense. But sometimes what we do is to find meaning in the meaningless.
SYL: Or every thing happens for a reason!
To give a presentation is not easy, needless to say, to give a good one. Each of my classmates did a great job. I really want to read every book they have introduced after listening to their reports. I believe they all learned a lot from their books!
