The
Great Gatsby
The reason why I appreciated
to Nina’s presentation is because she conveyed another meaning of this book to
me. I once watch the movie “The Great Gatsby”, but I just considered it simply
a movie talking about tragic love. However, after listening to Nina’s explain, I
realized that the mysterious green light that I never noticed in the movie
somehow represents the perseverance of Gatsby’s love. The green light appears
in many chapters, and each time it brings up different feelings, sometimes
blurred, sometimes sad and sometimes troubling. Like many of the most
interesting symbols, the green light changes and develops its meaning through
the novel. Without Nina’s explanation, I would never understand the
deep meaning of the movie.
The
Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy
Another impressive
presentation would be Jerry’s The
Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy. It was quite interesting to hear the word
“nonsense” he gave to the book. I believed there must be some reasons he
decided to make this comment, so I listened to him very carefully. I was
surprised to know such a book talking about the meaning of life with ironic
descriptions, and he also made a good explanation with his great Power Point
slides. Although such a praise would make him arrogant, I have to say that he
really made the complex story into a simpler concept.
Percy
Jackson
The third presenter I admire
the most is Celine. It’s obvious to see her passion, or crazy, upon the series
of Percy Jackson. To be honest, I knew
Celine is a crazy fan of Percy Jackson not
because this presentation, but because each time when I saw her, she would
bring the book with her and read it if there were free time. She really made a
good explanation of the book, and she was confident to share her command when
presenting on the stage.
Right, you know how crazy I am about this series :)
