The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

In the story, the Boscombe valley mystery, Mr. Charles McCarthy was murdered, and all the clues indicated that the murderer was his son, Mr. James McCarthy. The witnesses said that they had seen the two having a fierce quarrel in the forest. Sherlock dug into the case with the request from Miss Turner, who believed James was innocent. With the clues which Sherlock dug out in the woods, it turned out that the murder was John Turner, the rich man in Boscombe valley, Alice’s father and an acquaintance of Charles. Mr. Charles McCarthy threatened John with the past bad things he had done, and this irritated John. When Charles wanted to make Alice marry James, John was so angry that he killed Charles.

In this story, it mentioned different kinds of relationships. For example, the bond between Sherlock and Dr. Watson, which is friendship, the love between Alice and James and the one between Alice and John. “It makes a considerable difference to me, having someone with me on whom I can thoroughly rely.”, said Sherlock. It totally shows the deep bond between them. Having such a friend whom you can totally believe and rely on is really a good thing which can make your life more complete. I really envious of the friendships between Sherlock and Watson. It seems that time or distance will not destroy their relationships. Fortunately, I have a friend whom I can really rely on as well. Even though we study in different colleges and live in different places now, we still share our daily lives with each other. Especially when we are in gloom, we will seek comfort by telling the sorrow. We share positive things to cheer up together, and we share negative emotions to bear together. Though we can’t save the world by solving cases like Sherlock and Watson, we can be good partners and be each other’s backups just like Sherlock and Watson.
