Log #3

Book: Catching Fire
Author: Suzanne Collins

After finishing reading my first novel, I had stopped reading for a while (about a week). I found out that I had difficulty starting to read again. I needed to spend a lot more time and efforts than I used to in order to engage in the novel. Firstly, I chose Room as my second reading material; however, I could barely read it. As a result, I gave up, changing it to Catching Fire.

Catching Fire is the second one of a trilogy named The Hunger Games. This one is one of my favorite novels. The author points out the problems occurring in our government and society. When reading the book, I felt angry and upset because people living in the capitol and other districts have far more different living conditions. Thus, this extreme comparison makes me reflect that when we are blessed born in peaceful and countries with the rich resource such as water, electricity and so on while other people reside in war zones, remote villages or developing worlds where lack of happiness. We shouldn't take everything for granted; we shouldn't complain; we should show our gratitude, instead. This is why I love this book. A good novel should bring up issues and make readers ponder.

At the beginning of Catching Fire, Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire, had to deal with her daily life after winning the 74th hunger game and also tried to eliminate the uprisings influenced by her reckless behavior back in the game by persuading all citizens what she did in the arena was simply because of her carazy love and the strong desire to be with Peeta.

Though I have read the Chinese version of this book, I am sill very excited about what the plot will develop.
