Log #5

Recently, I started to reflect my lifestyle, and think about the future. Interestingly, I just participated in two TEDx events. After listening to so many speeches and exposure to so many new ideas, I began to connect the reflection with my life.
The first one is about the self-imposed. Most of the things (such as information, knowledge, etc.) can basically be dismantled as: contact, know, and do not know. The conception just looks like covered by layers of concentric circles. As to "things we are interested" and "future planning", they usually exist in the "contact" section. If we were lucky, we would find our own passion there. However, what we are really interested in may beyond the section of “contact” mostly. Take me for example, since I take English as my major, I believed that the areas of humanities (like psychology, business) would be my best choice. Not until I began to find summer internship recently did I found that I am interested in "community marketing", and the area of "community marketing" is in the "know" section, and beyond "contact" section. In other words, if you do not know where your passion is now, there may be a lot of areas in which you know but you haven’t yet given it a try. It’s time to broaden the circle from “contact” section to “know” section.
The second thing is about the perseverance. It’s surprising to know that it can be trained this time. If you often set an ambition and some great plans, but never practice it, and wait day after day until everything becomes dummy (yes, that’s me). We must know that we can never build great perseverance in a short time. Instead, perseverance is a kind of "habit" that needs to accumulate slowly over the years. From trivial things, we can train our perseverance steps by steps, and gradually increase the difficulty of plan. If you set a big target in the beginning, it may become a blank declaration in the end and break your own confidence. Finally, you will fall into the abyss of failure. Likewise, I want to learn Japanese well. However, I shouldn’t ask myself to read a lesson every day, I should start reading for half an hour a day instead. Keep doing for a week, and then slowly lengthen the time and stabilize the training. It’s good to thing big, and dream big, but if there is no appropriate training program, only troubles and failures would leave.
It’s lucky to have some new understandings just before I experience something, which help me save lots of time and reflect my past lifestyle.
