In
the public speaking class, the speaker gave us a questionnaire to find out our
own natural behavior for more effective relationships. The whole quadrant can
be divided into four categories: Analytic, driver, amiable, and expressive. I
belong to the driver section. Drivers tend to do everything at a high speed
once we make up our mind; making decisions is also quickly done. For me, it’s
perfectly correct. Besides, if you give me missions or goals, just leave me
alone for I would like to make things done by myself. It doesn’t mean that I
don’t need others’ help; in my opinion, it is sometimes efficient to work alone
rather than work in a team. Furthermore, if the commanders give me the
deadline, I can finish the work few days in advance because I am disciplined
about time. No matter it’s time for handing in homework or keeping an
appointment, I will never be late except that I forget to do. Otherwise, I will
usually be faster than others.
However, the drivers, at least for me, are
not risk-oriented. I am the one who likes leading an ordinary life and hates
taking risks. The situation happens in my daily life. When I check my mailbox, I
can often get some information about the internship in institutions or
companies. At my first sight, I think it’s a good time for me to improve myself
and take the chances into consideration; a few seconds later, I give up since I
am afraid of taking the challenges and finally leading to the failure. To be
honest, I am very likely to make one resolution in a few seconds and then tell
others that I make up my mind to quit few days later, or even some minutes
later. In such conditions, it is absolutely possible that I am hated by my
friends or colleagues, which is what I fear in the future. Thus, according to
the suggestions from the survey, what a driver needs is constructive criticism
from others. I really need someone who can give me directions when making
choices so that the force will push me to make right decisions.
I would be happy to listen to you and see if I can offer any useful advice, if you need!
