Log #7

From what I’ve read this week, I could conclude that there’s always been excuses for us to procrastinate like: “moral licensing loopholes”, “tomorrow loopholes”, “false choice loopholes”, “lack of control loopholes” and so on. Among these loopholes, I’d like to point out the “tomorrow loopholes” especially for I’m now facing a lot. After carefully examining my life and all the decisions that I made, I found out that there’s still two to three days’ delay from the time I made the decision; sometimes it’s even worse, there would be weeks or months of delay. It’s pretty ironic saying that “Don’t put off till tomorrow what should be done today.” but still do delaying all the time. I also found out that there are actually a lot of people falling in the “tomorrow loopholes.” Based on my observation, many of my friends do have this problem too, for example, that friend told me he’s going to work out and exercise every day; in fact, he’s been saying he would start tomorrow because he’s tired that day, but this kind of procrastination lasts for so long. In the end, it turned out that he never continually exercises or work out for at least two days. To get out of the “tomorrow loophole,” I’ve come out with several feasible approaches. First, I put on a reminder sticker on the front of my desk or put the stickers around my study, so that I can keep being motivated by MYSELF. Second, take advantage of the cutting-edge technology – iPhone, I can set my iPhone to pop out a notification once the GPS detected I went to the certain locations. Last but not least, I can have a friend who have the same habit to cultivate to do the certain things together every day. I did try this approach before when preparing for my college entrance exams with my friends. The result is astonishing for I not only follow up all the schedules that we set every day but we both also did well on the exams. After all, I want to say, it’s easy for us to solve the problems but it’s never an easy job finding out what the problems around us.
