Book: Go Set a Watchman
Author: Harper Lee
Page: 17~81

These chapters that I read during these weeks were rather hard for me to understand what the author was trying to convey. The story goes on by focusing on the relationship between Jean Louise and her aunt, Alexandra. I think Alexandra is a old-fashioned woman who is very cynical. She reminds me of my own aunt. She is always unsatisfied about me. No matter what I do, she could find some words to hurt my feelings. As I grew older, I started to realize that she would never be able to praise me even though I've tried hard to do my best to please her. Nonetheless, Jean Louise surely knows that being true to herself is more important than pleasing her aunt. I haven't seen my aunt for many years and I think I would stop caring what she would criticize me.

What I like about was the date that Henry and Jean Louise had together. I really can tell Henry is so in love with Jean Louise but she is not as sure she feels the same by every details from their conversation. Henry has been asking Jean Louise to marry him but she's struggling because she's afraid that she would become those unhappy married couples whose lives are stuck in a rut. However, Henry still loves her the same way and wait her patiently as always because doesn't want to push Jean Louise. I think this is what true love is. You would think for the ones you love instead of force them to do what you want.
