Book: The Fault In Our Star
Page: P.114~P.229 (C8~C14)
As the biggest fan of her favorite novel named The Imperial Affliction, Hazel is eager to know the ending of the book. Thus, she wrote a letter to the author and got his reply. He said that he couldn't tell her the plot of the book on the Internet but he is willing to meet her in person. No sooner had Hazel known this than she became really excited. However, her health condition is too fragile to go on the trip to Amsterdam, where the author lives. What's more, her family can't afford the expense going abroad. Luckily, with Agustus' and Hazel's doctors' help, she is finally able to accomplish this dream!
I have found that I did have a misunderstanding of the book. Apart from the issues concerning family, romance, and death, it also contains decisions. Hazel have encountered a dilemma. She desperately wants to meet the author, knowing the very ending of the plot, but there are many obstacles lay in front of her. If she decides to go no matter what, there will be a chance that she may die during the trip, which leaves her parents lots of sorrow, regrets and pain. On the contrary, she will have regrets forever if she chooses to stay. If I were Hazel, I would choose to stay and ask whether the author could come meet me. Although it would be selfish, I think this is the better solution to solve this adversity.
"Don't judge a book by its cover." This is the biggest lessons I have learned from reading the book. At first, I didn't like it because the author put much romance in it. However, I was able to discover different angels of the book through its plots, for instance, family. Though there is still a lot of love stories in it, I think I can bear it!
