At the beginning of the story is the funeral of Brett’s mother. For
her mom’s passing away, Brett could help but feel sorrowful. Going around the
places that were familiar with her, Brett only felt that her memory with her
mom was flashing by. She opened the closet and found the champagne stored for celebrating
her mom’s recovery in the future. Though feeling disobeying her promise with
her mom, Brett still opened the champagne and drunk a lot. It’s because that
she felt that no one in the world would be as same as her mom to comfort her
soul. However, after being sad for a long time, Brett still had to manage the
reality. Being the shareholder with the most shares in hand, Brett needed to
take over her mom’s original position. Though she was an advertising executive
in the past, Brett could be the CEO because she was the daughter of her mom. In
contrast, Catherine, the sister-in-law of Brett and the most capable
businesswoman in the company, had no choice but to help out with Brett to make
her understood about the operation of the company of her mom without attempting
to fight for the position. To their surprise, the lawyer told them that the
shares of her mom would belong to Catherine and Catherine would be the next CEO
of the company.
Speaking of experiencing the sorrow like Brett did, the most
impressive one was my grandpa’s passing away. In that year, I was only 12. I
can totally tell you what the feeling of losing someone important to you in a
short time is. What I was done at that time was quite similar to what Brett
did. Look around the places we went together, recall the wonderful memories,
and then burst out crying. It’s tough for a person to get through from the pain
of losing his/her dear especially those who raised him/her up and accompanied
him for couples of years. Since I have interested in family issue, I am looking
forward to reading the next chapter till now.
