Maybe it’s a dream for a lot of people to
have a rich dad so they could basically do everything without worrying about
the repercussion since money can solve almost anything. However, it is just a
pure nightmare to Lexington Larrabee.
As the daughter of Larrabee Media’s CEO,
Richard Larrabee, Lexi basically misses out all of the father-daughter bonding
time she deserves because her dad is always so busy. Every important moment in
her life, whether it is her first day of school, sweet sixteen party, birthday,
dance recitals, or her high school graduation, he has been too busy to
participate.
Therefore, when Lexi bumps her Mercedes
Benz into the convenience store because she gets drunk after running into her
on-and-off boyfriend in the club, she thinks her dad would just pay his minions
to clean up all the mess she has made up instead of showing up in the suite she
stays in and actually informs her that she would not get the $25 million trust
fund she is supposed to get 4 days later, which is her 18th birthday,
unless she spends the next whole year working on 52 different occupations that
he has chosen for her.
As reading the book, even just starting,
you could tell Lexi is a spoiled kid that has everything material throughout
the 17 years of her life. However, that is not enough for her. What she really
wants is never money but love and affection. Her father is never there when she
needs him nor does he care about her, her mother died when she was 5 years old
and all of her siblings are all over the world busy with their own business. Some
of the time when you are reading it, you would be annoyed by her attitude and
how ungrateful she is to the things she already has, such as friends who really
cares for her, her cute dog, and the employees in the house who take care of
her since she was little. But the more you read, the more you realize that she
is just lonely and longing for attention that she has never had from her
parents.

回覆刪除Of course we can't deny that money is necessary, but it's not the only thing we should pursue. I think this problem is what nowadays parents face, and we should really think about and cope with it.
