My Reading History

First of all, I would consider myself a reader. I've always loved to read since I was little. I have started to read Chinese books since I was 4 and English since I was in high school. So even though I don't read as much English as I do in Chinese, I would still think myself a reader in both Mandarin and English.

My favorite books, or to be more specific, my favorite series of books would probably be A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Although the series is more considered books for kids than for adults, I have always loved the series, and every time I pick them up I just couldn't stop reading them. They are just exciting and clever. I remember reading them when I was younger and thinking what would I do if I encounter incidents like that even though it would be pretty impossible to run into things like this in reality but it's still interesting to think about.

I started to read because of my mother at the very first place. She didn't really force me to read but she had loved reading so there were always lots of books in our place. Therefore, I got into reading under her influence.

And like I mentioned above, my mom sort of made me a reader. She wouldn't ask me to read certain types of books; instead, she asked me to read as much as I could as long as I am intrigued by the content of the books. Also, I had a bunch of good friends way back to junior high who just loved to read so much that they would seize any time they had to read, and their behavior influenced me, letting me know you could read no matter when and no matter where you are.
