My Reading History

When it comes to reading, I feel like there is a great distance from the world of reading. I used to spend most of time playing instruments like cello, piano or guitar, etc. For me, reading the worlds through listening to sounds and feeling what the composers try to tell from music scores and lyrics is the most familiar way to understand human’s various feeling and strike chords between me and composers. As a result, I consider myself a reader, a reader with ears.
However, I still have read some great books. A Thousand Splendid Suns is the most inspiring and touching book that I still remember clearly today. The book describes the struggles of two women, Mariam and Laila, to conquer a series of tragic events and their friendship built in the 20th century. I was deeply influenced by this book because the main characters teach me how to fight for our own life and happiness with strong faith under extremely tough situation.
I read it because I find the cover of this book is so attractive for me, so there is no one has forced me to read it. I will only read books whose covers are interesting. As a consequence, I think it is I that made me a reader.

  1. Sometimes I do judge a book by its cover literally just like you did because I also tend to have desire to read books with attractive covers. I can understand your feeling.

  2. I think I'm similar to you when I'm a reader with ears. I like to listen to music with music video. At that time, I use my ears to be a best audience or reader.
