Recently, I have been reading "The Tenth Circle" for a while now. I borrowed it from our school library.  The reason why I choose to read this book is because of the words written on the cover page of the book. It says "Your daughters says she was raped. But the man she's accused was her boyfriend. What would you do?" I have been thinking about this question over and over before I actually started reading. Thousands of questions popped up in my head. How can she be raped by her boyfriend? Isn't that what couples do when they reach a certain level of love and consistency? Having sex or being raped by a stranger and by the boyfriend were two different things right? All these questions makes me so interested about reading this book.

The opening of the book starts with Trixie's father, Daniel. In my opinion, he is just as normal as any father on the world, who considers their children as a never growing up child. In their eyes, all of us are still like babies even though we have passed 18 years old. But maybe is because he have lost Trixie once when Trixie was four, so he is a little bit more protective about Trixie. He is a protective father but he hides it well. He never shows it in front of Trixie, so she never know anything about his worries. And has no idea that her family is not as peaceful as it seems. Trixie has no clues about her mother, Laura was having affair.  But at the same time she knows what would make her father feel safe about where she's going and what she's going to do. That's why Daniel didn't know that Jason and Trixie broke up on their three month anniversary, and that she's not going to sleepover parties at Zephyrs but a house party which involves inappropriate actions and games. Daniel has no idea about the reason why Trixie is doing this. He didn't know it's all because even after the break up, Trixie is still deeply in love with Jason, and wanted to win back Jason's heart. Which is also the reason why and how she got rapped at the night.

Since I have also been through an unforgettable break up before, I know it takes a long time for us to truly let go of someone who we used to love with all of our heart. But so far till now, I still don't think what Trixie choose to do were right. And the fact that she got rapped, its not that I don't feel sorry for her, but under this kind of situation that she created for herself..I can only say that she should have thought more before she takes the action. After all, I enjoy the book very much and want to know more about the story!

  1. Do you remember the rape conducted by a Standford student? That news went viral after a very light sentence was given to the inflicter. Date rape is the term we use for cases like this, and lots of confusion need to be clarified for girls to know to protect themselves. I wish you give a deeper discussion after you finish the whole book.
