Title of the book: The Life List
Author: Lori Nelson Spielman
Page: 1 - 70
The novel my group decided on is called The Life List by Lori Nelson Spielman. I simply like it at first sight, because of its Tiffany Green color cover and the tree picture around it. When I got the novel, I read the back of cover so I can know better about what could happen in the story. And to my surprise, it seems like something I’d like to read during my spare time.
The story begins with the dramatic event: the mother of Brett Bohlinger, the main character, passed away. In the first chapters, as a reader, I can tell how Brett really loved her mother and how much she missed her. It made me think of what would be my actions when I hear the same bad news? It sure would be very heartbroken for me and I wouldn’t know how to cope with it. While I learned about how wealthy the family is, how great her boyfriend is, and how perfect and wonderful life that Brett has, I also learned that her mother intended Brett to finish her Life List in order to get the money that is meant to be hers (which her mother left behind).
There are three main goals for Brett to finish within a year: to fall in love, to have a child, and to perform on a large stage. At the latest chapter I’m on, Brett has tried going on a state for a talk show, but she’s not doing it too well because she was nervous, and wasn’t sure what to do. As a reader, I feel sorry for her; I don’t think talk shows would be where Brett shines like a star, and she should reconsider what she is talented at and prepared herself for it. I can’t wait to read more about the story.
