How Chinese Culture affects Women

     Everyone knows that women in our society are seriously affect by our old-fashioned concept.  From ancient times until now, this kind of concept still exists in many our last generation's mind.

Of course, some of people start to give up this concept, but some of people still can't accept the latest concept now in the society.

     Let me show some realistic example from ancient China. There are many phrases such as “女子無才便是德。” It means women don't need to be educated. If a woman acquires too many knowledge, people will think that woman don't have any morality. Moreover, there is one more phrase called “牝雞司晨” it is a really negative phrase to a woman. It means a woman gets too much power so she may interfere man's status. For instance, some people will say Wu Zetian, who is the first female emperor in ancient China, an aggressive women. It is all because she takes regime by herself and makes herself the first female emperor in history. In a women's aspect, we will think that it is a great way to improve women's social status; on the other hand, men's may think this is a world create for them to rule not for women. In ancient times they even think that it is a bad phenomenon when a woman rule the world, they think their dynasty will come to an end.

    Nowadays, Taiwan elected the first female president. I don't belong to any party, I just want to express my point of view. A female president, it is surprising that Taiwan has a female president, it is also an improvement that people in Taiwan start to accept women can take charge of what men can do as well. I hope this phenomenon can keep going until we have real gender equality.
