Weeks ago, I wrote an article about discrimination.
When I was wondering why discrimination have been happening to every human
being, a term stroke to my mind. Thinking of that people are being judged by
their color of skin, by their religion, and by their physical difference. It seems
that those topics are epidemic now around the whole world. There is no doubt; the
answer is YES, but have you ever pondered what causes discrimination and
inequality. Is it the only reason that history and tradition have been composed
the trends of our society since humankind’s existence. A word plays not only
good part but also bad part in our lives. Why discriminations are appearing anywhere
is due to the sense of superiority. When thinking about personal experiences
and gender inequality, dose the sense of superiority matter?
For starters, we all have the sense of superiority.
It is like our inborn nature. Although we couldn’t but admit that children is the
most innocent and simplest than other adults, we must experience the situation
when pursuing our academy. Competition is kind of stimulus in the sense of superiority.
When a student always got better scores than other students, that student would
be start to belittle others. He/she felt that no one can compete with him/her. Other
than that, there was one kind of people in the class without any doubt, “teacher’s
pet” whom teacher are really fond of no matter whether his/her grade is good or
not. This kind of people enjoy the sense of superiority; they are confidence in
that they are protected safely. Despite the fact that we are not willing to
acknowledge this inborn nature, the consequence proves in the society. Gender inequality
is vulnerable it.
(Please took a look at this Debate website:
http://www.debate.org/opinions/are-men-superior-to-women
)
Are men superior to women? 56 percent of people
hold the point of view on agreement while another 44 percent say no. I am not
going to state which group is more correct than the other, but I have to say in
terms of different aspects they are all right. Men feel more superior to women
because of the sense of superiority. When it comes to when the Noble Prize list
of winners, the Oscar winners, the Olympics winners, and so on-these successfully make men feel they are more intelligent than
women. (The sexist moments at 2016 Olympics: http://www.vogue.com/article/sexist-moments-olympics-coverage)
Years’ accumulation reflects on our
society. Gender inequality won’t end as long as human beings don’t learn to respect
others and put asides their sense of superiority. As we know feminist have been
spent great efforts to raise people’s awareness of gender equality. It is significant
progress when females were entitled to attend schools. More and more people are
educated. We all hope one day people can live in a society without inequality. However,
we should also take the sense of superiority seriously. It is related to discrimination,
and it is our inborn nature. Perhaps by being educated, we can learn to take it
under control, and education can help to lessen discrimination.
