    Backpage’s Sex Ads Are Gone. Child Trafficking? Hardly.

    Every week, when I read articles related to human trafficking especially sex, my mood goes heavier and heavier. The more I learn the truth, the more helpless I feel. I realized there are reasons leading to this tragedy. First is poverty. Many of the girls who live in the poor living conditions are sold by their parents in order to support the families. According to the statistics, most of them are African-American. In the article I have read, a girl named Tiffany was born in a family whose mom is a prostitute and father is a pimp. The girl has no choice but to grow up in the wrong environment. In addition, laws are the other reason why human trafficking involving in prostitution cannot be eliminated. When Backpage, a website which posts ads to allow pimps and buyers to contact each other, is forced to shut down the adult ad session, meaning prostitution, it turns to another session to promote the same thing. However, a sergeant pointed out that this situation actually causes more difficulties and complexities to catching the pimps and buyers.

    Although there are two main reasons make this fight harder to win, I still think the major problem is on we human. If there is no need then there is no supply. If there are no buyers, there won't be poor girls sold and trafficked. I just can't understand why people want to do such a terrible thing. Don't they know these girls are someone's daughters? I used to think humans were born with the good conscience; however, I now doubt it.
