During this month, I have read several articles about the issue that our group will going to discuss. I have learned that how great effect would have on girls from social media. This week when I was reading articles about the impact of social media, a question suddenly occurred to me. Why girls still like to interact with their friends via social media?

The reason is that girls can say anything they want on the internet. According to the statistic the article mentioned, there are nearly half of girls aged from thirteen to twenty-one years old use social media because they can express things they care about. For example, sexual discrimination is bad online but girls are permitted to speak out.

Everyone has right to say anything online. However, people should respect for each other. For instance, social media is not related to the body image of someone. People sometimes judge girls on their appearance. I think how a girl looks like is not the most important, we should value her inner beauty instead.

For me, I have estimated myself before. I was not satisfied with my appearance since it wasn’t good enough. Then, I started to think how to make myself look perfect even I compared with others or envied others’ beauty. Yet, something hadn’t been changed. All I felt just unhappy and confused. Gradually, I didn’t judge my appearance any more after I found myself and I knew who I am. Only having a good look is insufficient. Virtue, ability and bravery also can make somebody become beautiful. Therefore, I very agree one part from article: girls should focus on things bigger than themselves, instead and find windows on the world rather than mirrors.
