Topic:Education in Taiwan is too much and too hard
What is the meaning of education? In my
opinion, the meaning of education lies in making every student have the basic
knowledge to apply to their workplace and shorten the gap between the rich and the
poor. However, does the education system of our country reach the beginning
goal?
In
recent years, the authorities realizes there are some problems with the high
school education. Thus, they decided to reform the whole system. In the past,
studying in senior high is not our duty but our right. In other words, you can
choose whether you want to study high school or not. Two years ago, the new
system was implemented. From then on, students have no choice but to study in
high school. However, students still need to take the entrance exam to go to
the senior high school. Here is the problem. Since senior high education is
required like junior high education, it’s weird that we should still enter the
school by grades. What’s more, in the new system, the past three-year grade,
the character score, the extracurricular performance, and the non-academic
subject performance will be counted in. It seems to be a perfect system to every
student at first glance, however, it actually makes the gap between the rich
and the poor bigger. In the past, if the poor wants to enter the best high
school and change their destiny, they simply need to study hard and get a good
grade on the exam. Now, they not only have to deal with the academic
performance, but also need to care about the extracurricular performance. Does
the poor student have enough money and time to learn other subjects outside the
campus? Of course not. In my opinion, education is the chance for the poor to
turn over their destiny. Don’t the authorities think they are too cruel?
