     Sea-level rise issue

There are two main causes of sea-level rise: shrinking land ice releasing water into the oceans, and warmer water expanding as a consequence of the rise of ocean temperatures. These two causes result from global warming. Rising sea levels put coasts at risk by eroding and degrading shoreline, amplifying storm surges, inundating inland permanent, and intruding with saltwater. To limit the pace of sea-level rise, we need to reduce global warming emissions.

Sea-level rise arises from global warming, which is kind of common sense. However, to understand this issue more, we need to figure out why and how global warming affect our oceans. Global warming leads to the rise of global temperatures, and thus makes glaciers, ice caps, and ice sheets be melting, adding water to the oceans. Then, as the global temperatures rise, water expands accordingly (thermal expansion). Slowing down global warming is something countries and companies are trying hard to do now. To really stop sea water from intrude inland, every person should put into practice what the environmentalists have promoted, or we are still indifferent people when it comes to sea-level issues.
