Behind the screens of computers or cell phones, some may hide their true self and anonymously do something against their conscience-cyberbullying is definitely one of the productions. Due to the reason that cyberbullying is commonly seen nowadays, effects toward teens or adults are worth analyzing. Technology brings convenience to our lives, but the opposite side of the coin is that some people may misunderstand its original meaning.
Based on the survey, girls are about twice as likely as boys to be victims and perpetrators of cyberbullying, which also shows gender differences. Girls tend to compare themselves with others, which also makes me a victim of bullying. However, the internet back then was not so ubiquitous that kids tended to bully others in person. When I was in elementary school, I had been bullied verbally for two years because, compared to other classmates, teachers treated me obviously better, better enough to raise my classmates’ jealousy. Therefore, I was isolated and cursed. Although it was not cyberbullying, the feeling of it was indeed the same. At that time, my mind kept repeating how awful my life was, how mean people were, how terrible school was. It was the first time feeling so helpless.
No matter on the Internet or in person, bullying keeps increasing suicide rates. With my own experience, I believed that no one deserves to be treated in this way. Honestly speaking, cell phones and computers themselves are not to blame for cyberbullying, instead, those are accesses to conveniences. Instead of being used in a wrong way, they can definitely be used positively.
