Log #2

On my reading this week about Transgender, I am focusing more on their mental health. I have to admit that through the whole process of the reading, I feel kind of irritated and concerned about how being a minority affects the social life and the mental health of Transgender.
It is very heartbreaking when I found out about the humiliation, the alienation, and the discrimination the transgender teens had to go through prior to their coming of age. It is the most significant moment, especially for teens, in building up their identity. It is when teens are going through their "most rebellious phase" and yet the transgender teens still have to deal with all the bullying and to understand their sexuality. It is the time when all they need is just a simple affection, understanding, and acceptance from others.

According to one article, regarding the research conducted between the transgender and non-transgender:

65% of non-transgender says they are optimistic about their future while only 30.5 % of transgender do.

All I can say when looking at the chart is, We all do have rights to dream, and so does transgender. Sure everybody will somehow feel uncertain of their future. We all do. But do you know all the discrimination that occurs make it even worse for transgender? Transgender do not have any mental illness (WHO is positive on that), but it is the unawareness in the society that makes the best toxic to their mental health.
