Human Trafficking

43,200. Perhaps this number doesn't have any special meanings to us, but it's the number of how many times Karla had been raped during four years of hell. I could never imagine how much pain Karla had suffered. While reading her story, I began to think how many girls, who are the victims of human trafficking just like Karla, are being mistreated and forced to do the things they don't want to, and are bearing the unbearable pain. What made me so furious and felt disgusted was that even the police, who were supposed to fight against crime and rescue the victims, didn't help them. Instead, they became a part of the crime. Those police used their power to take advantage of the victims because they thought the victims are just minors and they're not important. What if the victims are their daughters, their wives, their sisters? Would they still do the same thing? I don't think so. I believe that if we could pay more attention to human trafficking, and like Karla said, "Take the blindfold off your eyes." We need to learned about what happened to the victims instead of doing nothing.
